Chef is a job that can be obtained by passing the Chef exam at any university. The Chef job was released on Oct 29th, 2020. Chefs can craft custom items, providing hundreds of options for Chefs to create their own menus and restaurants.
Crafting and Using Food
Chefs work closely with Farmers to gather ingredients. Some items can be crafted, other can be cooked. Some recipes require multiple steps to craft. Food and drinks provide different effects like Speed, Luck, Regeneration, Strength, and more along with restoring hunger and health. The more complicated the recipe is, the stronger and longer its effects will be.
How to Brew
Fermenting
- Place a Cauldron over a fire.
- Fill it with water.
- Add ingredients with a right-click.
- Wait while they ferment.
- Fill in glass bottles.
- Use a clock on a cauldron, if you want to know the time the ingredients have been fermenting.
Distilling
- Put the bottle with ferment into the brewing stand.
- Put a Glowstone Dust as a filter on top into the brewing stand (the filter will not be consumed).
Aging
You put the bottles into the barrel for aging. It can be built in two ways.
The barrel should not be destroyed while aging, as it would leak after a short while.
Depending on the recipe, the type of wood used in building a barrel may alter the quality of the aged brew.
Small Barrel
It can be opened by using a right-click on the sign.
Building materials: 8 Wooden Stairs, 1 Sign (placed on the lower-right side, with "Barrel" written on the first line).
Big Barrel
It can be opened by using a right-click on the spigot (fence). Breaking the spigot makes everything inside spit out.
Building materials: 4 Fences, 16 Wooden Stairs, 18 Wood Planks (hollow inside). 1 Fence (spigot) and 1 Sign (with "Barrel" written on the first line).
Sealing
Sealing a brew in a Brew Sealing Table makes its ItemID the same as other similar brews and stops the aging process. You can seal your brews to sell them in your chest shops efficiently.
